Moody Direct Ltd attend ‘What Next: Apprenticeships’

Young people in North Nottinghamshire will soon be able to explore the opportunities of apprenticeships and vocational study as a career as the latest What Next: Apprenticeships event takes place during National Apprenticeships Week 2020.

More than 25 employers from across the region (including Moody Direct, Eaton, NHS and TMBG) and providers covering Further Education and Higher Education level apprenticeships will be attending the event to inform people about apprenticeships from entry to degree level.

The event, organised by Bassetlaw District Council in collaboration with the North Notts Skills and Employment Partnership and North Notts BID (Business Improvement District), will take place on Tuesday 4th February at The Well, Hospital Road, Retford, Notts, DN22 7BD, between 3-6pm.

Cllr Jo White, Cabinet Member for Economic Development at the Council, said; “There are Bassetlaw people who can proudly say that they began their working life as the apprentice in their workplace and now hold a corporate management position taking key decisions and earning a good wage.”

“Whilst this is a dream outcome, I hope that young people come along and take a look at what opportunities there are currently available and see what interests them. Leaving school and going out to work is a huge step and this is one of the easiest and secure ways of doing it.”

The What Next: Apprenticeships event will be an excellent chance for young people to meet with local employers and talk to them about future apprenticeship opportunities, as well as hearing about the experiences of people currently undertaking an apprenticeship and the benefits of choosing this path.

Moody Direct Ltd will be just one of the local companies taking part and David Tomlinson, Director of the company, said; “It’s fantastic to see our contribution being used to engage with local, young people in this way. We have struggled in the past to reach the right candidates and to spread the word about our Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeships. We hope this event, like the flagship ‘What Next’ event, introduces us to those ambitious individuals who are keen to learn what local opportunities are available and allow us to discuss with them the benefits of our apprenticeship in particular.”
