Liquid Penetrant Vessel Testing

Acceptance / Rejectable Criteria

  • All relevant indications identified during Liquid Penetrant Testing shall be assessed in accordance with the applicable customer specification and acceptance criteria.
  • Relevant indications greater than 3 mm shall be marked up and reported for repair, unless otherwise specified by the customer.
  • A cluster of four or more pinhole-type indications and/or pitting indications shall also be highlighted for repair where the distance between individual indications is less than 1.5 mm.
  • All areas requiring repair will be clearly identified and recorded within the inspection report.
  • Client to ensure vessel has been CIP cleaned pre- and post-inspection.

Repairs and Re-inspection

  • Repairs are not included within our scope of work and shall be carried out by the customer or their appointed repair contractor.
  • Where repairs are undertaken, the repaired areas should be ground smooth and polished prior to re-inspection.
  • Following completion of any repairs, a repeat Liquid Penetrant Inspection (LPI/DPI) shall be required on the repaired areas to confirm satisfactory repair.
  • Any subsequent re-inspection or re-certification following repairs is outside the initial inspection scope and can be undertaken separately if required and will be quoted for accordingly.
