Better Quality Ice Cream, Quicker with an Automatic Freezer

Alfred & Co have been down in Suffolk, Bury St Edmunds to be precise, installing a brand new Gram GIF1200 fully automatic freezer at Criterion Ices.

Producing ‘A Very English Ice Cream’ the family owned business has been established since 1920 and was looking to not only increase production but to diversify into milkshakes.

After a routine site visit Steve Henshall, Alfred & Co Sales Manager, suggested a Gram GIF1200. Steve said “The Gram GIF1200 is the perfect freezer for upscaling production whilst minimising workload. With auto start-up, it’s simpler to use than your everyday smart phone!”

This freezer also benefits from constant monitoring of barrel pressure, overrun, production speed and temperature during production, ensuring a high quality end product. It has two Copeland scroll compressors and can run at production speeds between 600-1200 litres per hour.

Paul Myatt, Operations Director at Criterion Ices, added “Our existing set up was coming up to 10 years old and simply not capable of producing enough quality ice cream to the standard that we desired. Once we had decided on the freezer, due to its simplicity, Steve and his team came and commissioned the machine which worked straight out of the box. Alfred & Co have been professional, knowledgeable and a pleasure to work with, we’ll certainly be turning to them again in the future.”
